How do I create a hyperlink on text in an applet.

Maybe this will help.
When you call a URL from an applet you must call it throw a webserver with http:// or some other protocoll.

of course Emil's suggestion is right but if u really want to make the text look like Hyperlink u've to ,
1. create a label
2. make it underlined
3. make it changing color on mouse over
4. call the method where u'll write what Emil suggested on onMouseClick event (i dont remember exactly what even u would need but i'm suggesting that it should work like Hyperlink u know)..so u'll need to have MouseListener...
