Including an applet in output from HttpServlet

Hello There,

I have a servlet that extends HttpServlet in the usual way. Part of
the display from the servlet is a graph created by an applet and so
far I have singularly failed to get the applet to work. The error I
see in the java console is a ClassNotFoundException. The lines I have
in my servlet are

out.println ("<APPLET codebase=\"..\" code=\"com.cableandwireless.VoteGraphApplet.class\" archive=\"CWDemoApplet.jar\" width=200 height=200>");

out.println ("</APPLET>");

I've seen this applet working from a standard html page.

What am I doing wrong? What other piece of magic do I need? Any help
on this will be gratefully received.

Cheers,

Tony.
