Just a headsup that if you see the promotion listed below:

http://www.sun.com/training/savings/retake.xml

AFTER you pay to take the exam, they will not add the promotion code for you. Some excuse about having already downloaded the order and closed it. You can't tell me they can't do a simple insert-promotion-code form to their database for customers who didn't see this promotion in time. Of course I hope I dont need a retake, but it would've been comforting to know I could have one if needed.

Sorry to be so negative on my first post, I'm just really disappointed in their customer service right now.

You should be able to cancel your purchase.

In their 'terms and conditions', they say that you can't use that as a workaround:

Offer applies to new purchases only. Priority Code cannot be applied after
purchase. As Sun tracks customer cancellations, customers who cancel an existing
order will not be qualified to take advantage of this offer. Sun Corporate
Learning Passes and training credits are not accepted for this offer. Sun
employees are not eligible for this offer. No other offers or discounts apply.
The Sun Certification Exams are subject to local availability. The "retake exam"
must be taken before August 15, 2007 the following year.

So, it is ultimately my fault. rookie mistake, I guess. just very disappointed in their lack of flexibility or customer service.

Wow, I didn't read that. I actually did cancel and sign again in order to enter the priority code. I assumed, it appears incorrectly, that it was available to me if I needed it. I didn't enter it the first time because I didn't notice it. If I recall correctly, they asked for it in the billing information. I thought it was a credit card thing. Anyhow, it definitely could be presented more easily. One would think they are trying to trick you....

Anyhow, be aware that at least one other made the mistake

Btw, I took the exam yesterday. I'm not sure if I got lucky or not, but my exam was much easier than most of the mocks that I did. I used the K&B book. If you get 75% of those practice questions right, you should breeze through the test (again based on the questions I had).

So good luck and don't worry too much about the retake if you have prepared.

Thanks for the encouraging words, I definitely need them. Just took one of the Sun ePractice exams, got in the mid-50s. I had some distractions while I was taking it, and I'm hoping my score will be higher. I read the K&B book cover to cover, and I'm currently making a list of the subjects I missed on the practice exam (I missed 5 about threads alone). I'll study one subject each nite, and I'm taking it on Friday. I'm not the best test taker, but I am bound and determined to pass this thing.
