Hi,
I am completely new here!!! (this sentence i have copied from first query
of most of the members ;-))
I would like to know, the best books for SCJP.
I have Khalid Mughal book on SCJP, but guess its not just enough...
I would like to know what othe things one need to do for such prepation.
Even if somebody can provide me links, way to make flash cards(what are they?) will be of great help.

Hi!
I dont know about Khaled Mughal cos I have not used it. Do get a copy of SCJP 5 Examination Guide by Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates popularly known as K & B book. The authors are members of the exam creation team, and the book is well focussed on the exam. It has also has an additional aspect : humour, which is really welcome. Bert Bates, as u might be aware, is also the moderator of this forum. Get this book ar any cost.

Buy Khaled Mughal If you want to play with JAVA.
It is more than the Exam objectives.
You need more time to prepare for exam if you read this book.

Try SCJP 5 Examination Guide by Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates If you want to pass the exam in short time.

But do read Khaled Mughal once if possible after certification...A very good book

Khaled Mughal is a very good book but it is aimed at the JDK 1.4 exam, you are probably better off going for the JDK 1.5 exam which is covered by the Sierra and Bates book (or mine at http://www.examulator.com/tamer )

I think just being a part of Javaranch itself will help a lot in certification. Also practice exams are recomended.
I have both the books K & B and Khalid Mughal. I find Khalid Mughal to be more detailed than required for the exam but it does help in understanding the topics well.

flash cards(what are they?)

A flash card is a simple card (pocket size) on which you can write important points which you need to often revise anytime/anywhere. You can prepare your own flash cards.

Thanks!

Hi guys,
Thanks for your suggestions on the books and other related info..
I have one more query here now?
Should I start preparing for 1.4 ? or 5.0 is good choice.
