This thread is for comments on the VooDoo exam software.

Has anybody taken the voodoo exams? Added new questions?

I have taken 5 mock exams so far. They are pretty tough.

I scored 90% on the first Marcus Green mock exam, but am averaging in the low 80%s on the VooDoo exams. On my last test (Exam5), I scored a disappointing 79%.

I am interested to know what other people think about these mocks.

How bad is your case of Voodoo?

The geocities site works fine for me.

I live in Germany, but I was born in the USA. Near New York City.

My mother and her family are German. My Dad is American. His grandparents are from Germany and the Ukraine.

I will take my exam in Philadelphia, in the USA.

Not much time left. 12 more days......

Thats wonderful. Living in a multi cultural environment must have you made you very open and tolerant.

I'll also be in US by that time. I am going for my Masters there.

I'll take the Voodoo test and post my scores here soon.

Great!!

Good luck with the Voodoo!!

I found the tests to be pretty difficult, which is good because you learn a lot.

I have been to India, too.

I am curious to see how your scores are.

Did you take any other mocks yet?

Yeah, I took the Whizlabs and JQ++ mocks too. And, I scored in the 75 - 85%
range. So, I am hoping the real one would be a lot easier.

Are they all original questions or have they been uploaded from other mock exams? Or worse, real questions?

I don't think we'll come to know that, since the questions have been added by many users.

I took all the exams in Voodoo. One of them is just a repeat of another, so it's not worth taking.

I averaged about 85% on them, which is not bad, but still I am kind of unsatisfied. On one test, I got a 79%.

I scored a 90% on the Marcus Green exam.

I notice that most of my mistakes are just stupid errors. Often the question is easy, but I don't read the question properly. And English is my first language. The word "not" gives a lot of problems.

A question like this for example:

Which of the following is not true about classes?

a. Classes cannot use the strictfp keyword.
b. Classes can contain inner interfaces.
.
.
.

Often one is so focused on the Java, that one forgets to pay attention to the logic of the question (i.e. is it NOT true that classes can NOT use the strictfp keyword).

To get a near perfect score, one not only has to know Java perfectly, one has to avoid these kinds of stupid mistakes. I seem to make one or two stupid mistakes on every exam.

I gave VooDoo exam 5 and I got same 79%. There is no point giving VooDoo.

Its aiming for SCJP 1.4 and I got questions on Panel, AWT Event listeners

etc.

I gave the first two test and found the level of questions to be quite good. Also, I didnt' get any questions on AWT, Panel, etc.
Although, its not as good as JQ+ / Whizlab, I appreciate the effort put in by the person who developed it. And, its FREE.

For people having trouble downloading it, I have uploaded the file here:

I took all of them. One of them, the Riddhi exam, is really just a copy of one of the others. You can skip the Riddhi exam. The exams are pretty good. They are hard. There are a few mistakes in the answers. You cannot trust the answers completely. But not too many mistakes.

I agree with Aum. This software is free. And when you think that people spent a lot of time and hard work putting the software together, you should be THANKFUL (inspite of a few mistakes).

Thank you for the Voodoo!!

AFAIK, It is not an error if classes, or even methods end with semicolon in Java. Its just that the semicolons are redundant there.

Yes. In java, ; is considered to be an empty statement. Its often used in for loops.
