Hi Guys,

Im trying to create a small web-app utility (applet) that would read the browsers html source. I read about Browser Helper Objects (BHOs) but I dont want to use any ActiveX component in the browser and was wondering if there is any Java API that I can use to do this.

Thanks in advance.

Rufino,
Welcome to JavaRanch!

You could use a Java URL object to call the page and get the source. This would result in an extra call to the server though. I can't think of a way to get the source that is already on the page.

Can you tell us a bit more about what you are trying to do? Which pages are you trying to access, and where - on the client or on the server?

An applet can gain access to the page it's on through a technology called LiveConnect, but that would seem pointless in this case.
