Given the default classpath:

And this directory structure:
foo

test

xcom
|--A.class
|--B.java
And these two files:
package xcom;
public class A { }
package xcom;
public class B extends A { }
 

Which allows B.java to compile? (Choose all that apply.)
A. Set the current directory to xcom then invoke
javac B.java
B. Set the current directory to xcom then invoke
javac -classpath . B.java
C. Set the current directory to test then invoke
javac -classpath . xcom/B.java
D. Set the current directory to test then invoke
javac -classpath xcom B.java
E. Set the current directory to test then invoke
javac -classpath xcom:. B.java

The answer given is C. But I think the answer should be B. So there is a BIG problem!! (either for me or for all K & B book users)

The "root" directory is in this case xcom. So to compile the classes the current dir need the his parent, in this case test. Then the classpath is . to search in this dir and the children all src and dependencies.

can somebody provide a short explanation on why all other options are incorrect?
i am not getting it
