I've just gone to buy an SCJP exam from Sun in the UK, only to discover that the frequently quoted price of GBP 150 turns out to be exclusive of tax, bringing the total closer to GBP 175, or roughly US$335. I'm also a bit annoyed as I've heard that it's only US$150 in the US -- is this correct?
I'll have to think about it a little more before deciding whether I want to go for it after all. I don't like the idea that I'm being massively overcharged.
Prices do vary. You will find that $150 is really a minimum price. For instance the SCJP 5.0 upgrade voucher is listed at USD 100. Converting that to CHF (Swiss Francs) gives about 130 CHF. How much is it here in Switzerland? 150 CHF? 200 CHF? No its 241 CHF!
I remember being unimpressed when I realised that the price of the Sun training course I was booking was quoted ex VAT. I continued to be unimpressed when I took the course, not a bad Java course but close to irrelevent for exam purposes.
But that was all in the last millenium, I expect it has all changed and is wonderful now [ August 21, 2006: Message edited by: Marcus Green ]
