Dear Friends I am investigation options to deploy applet to IE browser only.
NOTE: We use Microsoft JVM in our IE browsers jdk 1.1.8 and we are NOT java 2 enabled for plugin.
Option I: Download applet archive from webserver (as JAR FILE) Add the applet jars to the webserver and get it servered to the clients from the webserver.
Option II: Install the applet as a part of each pc (ADD REGISTRY ENTRIES FOR APPLET)and deploy applet as a distributable Unit and the unit gets an entry inside C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files
Now For option 2 the approach is to build a CAB file and sign the CAB file using MICROSOFT SDK signcode and then when the html page containing the applet is requested it pops up with a security dialogue entry and on OK to that it adds registry entries to support applet download from the same pc where it is installed.
Obviously Option I seems normal and easy but there is opposition to go that way because of organizational constraints.
Please can you tell me how to test these various conditions (mainlu the Please explain section)
