Hi, We want to minimize the time for downloading the applet into browser. So want to install the applet permanently onto client browser. These client computers are custom based. So there is no issue if we install permanently.
How can we install applet on client browser permanently.
I don't understand what this means. What does a servlet have to do with the applet/application?

Web Start is not for applets; it's for applications. You can learn more about it on its home page.

Applet jar files in general are being cached by the Java Plugin. Before you spend a lot of time and effort to set up something for this problem, make sure that the applet actaully is being downloaded multiple times even though the file hasn't changed on the server. In all likelihood, it isn't. The Java Plugin control panel has some settings that affect the applet jar cache.
