here i am new . have a confusion between the SCJP 5 and SCJP 1.5 .Please help me out in this ..also i had gone through all the posts and there replies through which i got the name of the books . one is of author K&B and by Khalid Mughal..well these books are very costly .how do you have purchased these books or did you have found any other alternative for this any links or such like that ..Please i need your help..

i am working on Java with Struts platform .so which exam shuld i prepare for ?

SCJP 5.0 and SCJP 1.5 are the same.

The Khalid Mughal book is for SCJP 1.4. The new K & B book is for SCJP 5.0.

Yes, the books cost money, but the authors get only a small percentage of that money to use to pay their rent and eat. Personally I bought the books out of the money I get paid for being a Java Programmer.

The SCJP 1.4 or SCJP 5.0 certifications both enable you to go on to the next level certifications. But you must first pass one of them.

The Developer certification needs an application written using the SCJP 5.0 compiler but not necessarily the new Java 5.0 features. For the other Web Component Developer, Business Component Developer etc, certifications, you can choose between 1.4 or SCJP 5.0. (at the time of writing).
