hello!
i have created an applet which is creating images continuously(after every 0.5sec) at a remote server.

Problem:
Now i want to make another applet which can download that images and display them without Flickering.

So which part is the problem - having the applet download files from a remote server, or displaying them? Which protocol can be used to access the remote server? What do you have so far?

Actually, both parts
1)Reading (or downloading) images from Apache web server through my applet embedded in html page.

2)Displaying images as a continuous stream without flickering. Do i need Buffering? if yes, then tell me about it

Note:
i have make an application in Flash CS3 which continuously(after every 0.5sec) gets images from server. But i didn't find how to control flickering. So, i think i should try applet. what you say ?
take care

1)Reading (or downloading) images from Apache web server through my applet embedded in html page.

Without knowing how the image on the server can be accessed it's impossible to advise how to proceed. If by HTTP, then an InputStream to read the image from can be gotten through new URL("...").getContent().

2)Displaying images as a continuous stream without flickering. Do i need Buffering? if yes, then tell me about it
No explicit buffering is needed, as the image would be created off-screen and then simply be copied on-screen.

It's certainly possible to do this without flickering in an applet, although I suspect that due to network latency you will most likely not get a fresh image every half second. But I would imagine that it's also possible in Flash. Have you investigated flicker-free drawing in the Flash web sites/forums/etc.?
