we planned to do a web based editor with this requirement
1.Should be web based
2.Applet (suggest me which is better applet or JSP) audio player foot switch controller document in server
6.should be a common control(please suggest me how to do common control)
7.file format may be a doc or rtf or html(please suggest me which is better) spell checking

we planned to applet for editor, java media frame work for audio player support.but how to do common control these things and please suggest any open source for device driver

Let me guess: you also need it to support 1 million concurrent users, and you need it next Thursday by 7PM.

This is a pretty tall order, and it sounds to me like you really need to do some basic research before going much further. For example, all the Java code in a JSP runs on the server, while in an applet, it runs on the client; that means that of thetwo, only an applet can talk to a "foot switch" (which is presumably a piece of hardware on the client.) Likewise, JMF code can't run in a JSP! On the other hand, you can't do any of this in an applet without a solid understanding of the security issues involved.

What is a "common control"? It's not a term commonly used (no pun intended), so you need to tell us what you mean by it.
I agree. Here's the link:
