Hi, I'm doing an applet that involves reading some files and manipulate them.


I'm working with Eclipse, and to test it I run it direct from eclipse. Works fine.

The problem is: Now I created an html and want to put the applet in it.

I put the html file and the .class in the same directory.

But when I open the html the applet doesnt load.

I repeat, when runing in Eclipse applet view it works great.

Browsers enforce the security restrictions that apply to applets, while Eclipse doesn't. And since any file I/O is off limits for applets, you're getting an AccessControlException.

The two principal ways around this are to sign the applet, or to alter the local security policy. Both are explained in more detail in HowCanAnAppletReadFilesOnTheLocalFileSystem.

What do you mean, the applet is running in your PC? It's always running in your PC. If your question is whether it matters that the server is also your PC, the answer is that no, it doesn't matter where the server is. The browser won't do insecure things just because the server happens to be local.
