Exception Problem

     static int b() throws Exception

         try 
         {
             a();
             return 1;
         }
         finally
         {
 System.out.println("finally");
             return 3;
         }
     }
    public static void main(String[] args)
    {
try
{
System.out.println(b());
}
catch (Exception e)
{
 System.out.println("catch in main")
                }
     }

The output of the above code is
finally
3

Why does the catch block in main not execute ?
