Absolutely! On Sun's Java Certification page, SCJA is labeled "Entry Level," but this is a little misleading, because the SCJP exam has no prerequisites.

so, after passing scjp without having scja, I can take scwcd, and all the rest? So, scja isnt mandatory exam?

That's correct. The SCJA is standalone and not required. The other standalone certification is the SCEA (Enterprise Architect). You must take SCJP (1.4 or 5) to go on to SCWCD, SCBCD, SCJD,...
