Giving up on SCJP upgrade

I'm in the UK and didn't realise the price differential i.e. the upgrade exam costs as much as the full exam or to put it another way triple the US price (which differentiates between the two), I randomally selected 6 other countries and they were half or less (-ish), I wouldn't mind at all if it was developing nations they were charging the cheaper prices to but no, and yes its not so much the cost as the principle of the thing.

I was expecting double the US price (as thats normal for the UK hardware \ software) but triple was a shock. I contacted Sun but they said they can charge what they want (which they can) and Msoft , IBM were charging similar amounts (haven't checked that yet)

I can't see any real point in the upgrade exam priced as it is in the UK for me personally i.e. the US pricing makes sense, I'ed actually do the whole exam by choice if its the same cash.

If i'm ever holidaying abroard I may try and sit the upgrade there, in the meantime I'll just have to sit a SCJP 1.5 mock on the weekend and award myself a SCJP mock (1.5) and make my own certificate ;-) . Thats not a feeble attempt at a sob story as I'm off to do a SCJD (don't get me started on having to pay double for the first part where you essentially get a file of the internet (spec) and send a file back (project) to be graded presumably by the same graders at double the price).

Sun have now joined Microsoft, Sony as my favorite people ;-) and I may do some Msoft , IBM certifications if they are as reasonably proced as Sun says.

SCJP 1.4, SCWCD 1.4

make my own certificate

Don't forget the badge

Try to contact an exam centre to make sure the price is correct.

I do like the badges they are pretty cool ;-)

I think you have to buy the exam voucher from Sun and then use it to purchase the exam from the test centre , I always wondered why they did it this way I'm begining to understand now :-(

I could try to get a quote , I see they have a quote button but didn't hit it as last year I had several Sun sales people on the phone trying to sell me training at least this should get rid of them. I may also try and go through my firm, that may get a different answer as they buy some Sun training in block.

... just noticed my SCJP 1.4 order was for a US-English exam ... lovely !
