Why do they do this? I'm stuck in a rut because I desperately want to leave my present job but nobody would interview me since I interviewed with them all inside 1 year. Not allowing for 3-6 months might be ok but 1 year is too much.

I mean I have intereviewed with all good companies.
I know I know what you must be thinking - that I must be a complete idiot since nobody takes me. I think so too but lets not talk too much about me.

the selection procedure takes so much time that they can't afford to interview again in next 3 4 months

You probably wouldn't get a fair chance anyway, since people may still be remembering you from the last interview.

What Ulf says is true. Unless you were a marginal candidate, you are probably wasting your time reinterviewing.
