This site is all you need . You have already started with right thing. You can refer K & B book . Its good book. Lot of examples and explanations clears your doubts. Most of the people on this forum use this book so its easy for you to ask any questions. U can also use other books as well. Khalid Moghul's book is also very popular among scjp students.

U will get lots of Mock exam links on this site (FAQ section). U have lot of time to prepare.

Wish you all the best!!

You do *not* need to know Servlets or JSPs for the SCJP test. Servlets and JSPs are part of the Web Component (SCWCD) test.

Yes you can start with khalid mughal also. His books is also one of the best selling books.

But as i what i have inferred from others and experienced, "Kathy Sierra & Bert Bates"'s (in short, K & B - thats what people in this forum mention) book looks very simple to start off with and well organized.

If you think you need to first learn Java concepts first before you start of preparing for the certification (though its not really that much needed as you will get to know the flow during your preparation), you can consider studying "Head First Java" or Dietel's Java Programming book as they are well explained.

Good luck!

You can also use Java Complete Reference for learning concepts. Its is very good book.

You can always start with K&B or Khalid Mughal and refer any other Java book (Head first/Complete reference etc) for more detail information.

Sun's web site also has good study material. I personally like to use Sun's Java Tutorial .
