it depends on you, if you understand it on first time then there is no need to revise.

Many people those who have scored good percentage (above 90) have said 5-6 times. So i believe 4-5 times would keep you in a safer place.

Regarding mock test Whizlab is a good one, better give as many mock exams as you can.Use Whizlabs and links are provided in FAQ section please refer.
Hope i helped you

Srinivas you're right! Two times is when you are really smart. I read it two times, and not really comfortable having my exam friday already. Make that at least three times, and make some summeries that are more then the two minute drills, and memorize them.

By the way, could you mail my boss too and tell him the five whole days of study leave I am getting is nothing compared to the effort I made in my own free time.

Howdy ranchers

You can read it 100 times and still fail.

It does not matter how often you read it, only you should know everything that the book contains. You have to do a lot of mock tests to know how much you understand.

Yeah that's the feeling I get. This stuff is not too hard to understand. The toughest is to remember everything: rules, APIs, subtleties, etc.

That's why I don't agree with K&B authors: doing lots of small programs help understanding the basic stuff. But there's no way one could think of all possible tricky scenarios regarding one rule or one set of API by himself. In other words, coding won't make you pass the exam. Tough mock questions will.

So here's what I plan to do:

1- Read the book and underline anything I need to remember
2- Reread what I underlined + 2 minutes drill
3- Take tons of mock exams (Enthuware + Whizlabs: yeah that's 100$+ extra)
4- Spend time everyday reading/replying in this forum, which is also an excellent source of tricky scenarios

What do you guys think ?

D.

Howdy,

many people find also flip charts very usefull. You know small cards (or thick paper) with a question on front and the answer on the back side.

Maybe used also with a Leitner learning system.
See this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spaced_repetition

The same people use for vocabulary.

Thats the point, how to do it in the right way. reading only is not enough, practice is the most important thing after getting the knowledge.

Howdy, depressed ranchers!

First if you are all so depressed, look at this nice Paracanthus hepatus:

And now perhaps I should extend my sentence.

It is now new and improved and 100% water proof:

You may read it once and pass or you may read it 100 times and still fail.

The first is more probably if you read it thoroughly.

And if you really find somebody who claims that he/she read k&b 100 times (and is not an editor), urge him/her to get professional medical treatment. Only giving a tablet of haloperidole would not be enough.

Maybe you might argue, that it is also possible to passs the exam without reading the book at all. But the sentence does not exclude that fact.
