New To Java

Hello people...Iam new to java....can you please tell me how to start preparing for java...cuz, by the end of this year I want to give the Java certification exam(SCJP). Is it possible for me to accomplish this little goal..?? Can you please give me some guidelines from where I can start my prepeartion. I jus got the book "Head First Java".

Please help me out in this.

start reading that book and then perhaps K&B book. Your goal should be possible to accomplish. It took me about 2 months to prepare, and by time I started I didn't know much about Java. There are also guys who prepared just for week and passed (barely, but passed).

Read the FAQ, read the book, watch the forum, try some mocks,..

sure mate. thanks for your advice, am really thankfull for your reply, but one thing what is this K&B book all about, havn't heard about that..??

Kathy Sierra & Bert bates (K & B) book for SCJP exam. This is a very good book for SCJP. I was also new to JAVA when I started. I did not read Head First java but I suggest you to read. Then start K & B.
I took 6 months for prearations.
