i am new to java.interest in doing scjp 1.5.can anyone guide me how to prepare for that exam?pls refer some good books and links.thanks in advance.

if you plan to do SCJP1.5 one of the best books for that is one by
Kathy Sierra & Bert Bates.... but that book is not an introductory book on JAVA so if you are completely new to JAVA i suggest you spend some time getting familier with the language and then start studying for SCJP

K&B assumes that you already have a foundational knowledge of Java. Try Head First Java (by the same authors) for an excellent introductory level text. But do note that you'll definitely want to go on later to K&B to prepare for the SCJP exam, since Head First Java isn't a certification preparation text.
