what is wrong with it?

when i compile it it is expecting Throwable in place of Error.Error is unchecked and not sub class of Exception.And we are free to either throw it or not.why i am getting compiler error.

Just I copied the above code and could able to compile and run on java 1.4 without any Exceptions. Got the output as

I ran it under 1.5 and got the error.

This is the error i got,

The compiler didn't say java.lang.Error but only Error.

The reason is probably that you have your own Error class in default package, so either remove it or change to and do the same with catch.
