I'm already a SCJP and am looking for an equivalent certification in C++. To be honest, it's mainly because I need to re-study my C++ fast and I found the format of the SCJP questions helpful for fast study. All I've found so far are certifications for particular IDEs such as MS Visual C++ or Borland.

Perhaps you jobs people have come across such a certification.....

I guess there's always BrainBench but I'm looking for something a little better.

Thanks,

David

It might be a good idea to start one yourself. Looks like today the c++ market is stronger then Java market. I was looking for a c++ compiler which works on windows, and downloaded one from Intel, but it required VC++ for running.

Sorry: I don't understand. How can I start my own C++ certification
scheme? I am looking for something which is already established
and which has the industry recognition of the SJCP. PS: If you're looking for a C++ windows compiler, try http://sources.redhat.com/cygwin/. I use Linux myself, so I can't vouch for it.

No, I wasnt really joking. The way SCJP and JavaRanch has helped lot of people to reach a level of competence in Java, there is a huge potential for a similar setup for c++, So if you learn the hard way, and can start a certification exam, I am sure it is going to be popular, provided there arent existing ones already.

Mohit -
Are you really suggesting a David Wake Certified C++ Programmer exam??? How would it gain industry recognition?
(Sorry David- no offence intended here.)
Or are you suggesting David design a C++ site similar in spirit to JavaRanch?

either. Well I am not so particular about Dave doing it, any one who feels motivated can do it.
There exists some sites today who certify people to be hired as Java programmers. Their USP is that an appointment is made by the hiring company which pays them, and the candidate has to take the test within the time given.
What I am saying is that things dont have to be of a scale of SCJP. I would much prefer to produce a mock exam first, like what Marcus Green did.
