I can't believe how many people have contacted me since passing SCJP to ask for copy of software I have bought or details of the exam.

If the moderators want to know names and pm's I have recieved then I am more than willing to shame and name those people because I don't believe I have to revise hard and pay for software, only for people to have the cheek to just blatently ask for exam questionsand software because they are too lazy to put the effort in themselves.

I am sure this is a small minority on this forum, but I urge you if you have passed SCJP recently and these people ask for things that they do not want to work for then do not help them. It lowers the meaning of SCJP in the market place if people who don't work hard and actually know the material are passing this exam.

Sorry for the rant, I am just highly unimpressed and annoyed.

Unfortunately there will always be people who will try to cheat.

At JavaRanch, we do not promote cheating. The SCJP exam is copyrighted, so copying, publishing or distributing questions from the exam without Sun's consent is illegal. If you post a question here which is copied from a mock exam, book or other source, you must quote your sources, and one of the main reasons for that is to keep out people who are trying to cheat.

Cheaters will look foolish in interviews anyway. So you have nothing to worry about

This is true, but what I don't understand, is that SCJP is a qualification that is not a necessity. It's usually done by people who just want to do it for themselves (like myself). So if you don't want to work for it, then why spend the money buying the exam and not working to do yourself? Like the old saying goes, "You're only cheating yourself!"...

... I know it happens, I am just shocked at the cheek of people asking a total stranger expecting them to help! Atleast ask your friend like you did in Uni, but they're too dumb to even do that.

How do you know that? There are lots of companies that want their Java programmers to be certified, and it's probably a good point on your CV if you're looking for a job as a junior Java programmer. I don't think it's something that people just do for themselves in general.

Hi Mustafa Musaji:

I think you can now change your signature from "Studying for SCJP" to "SCJP 5"

I was one of the guys who asked Mustafa regarding the simulator. Its because I do not have a credit card and cant buy the simulator. Asking for simulator is not cheating...

I live in Pakistan. Do not have a credit card. I have the money though and I really want to get the JQPlus and Whizlab simulator. What are the possible ways there for me to get the Simulators???

I know one way that was suggested by Mustafa that is to send him a cheque and he will share his key with me... Somebody really thought that people asking for key are DUMB.

Well, if the creators of JQPlus/Whizlab are here... Please provide us a way to buy the simulator in Pakistan. Or we will keep searching for other means as we do for Microsoft products as it is really hard to get a legal copy of windows in Pakistan.

I don't know that. I was just saying from my point of view, the people that I know who have completed SCJP and the jobs I have been in. It does look good on your C.V, and my point exactly that it's usually a choice made to do it, and not forced.

I don't know if what you're saying is true, but you must know someone with a bank account and a debit card in Pakistan? I didn't say you were cheating, the people asking for exam questions were trying to cheat, you were just trying to get me to give you software for free that I have paid for, which means I am breaking the law.

Why is it "hard" to get a legal copy of Windows? I think what you mean to say is that it's TOO EASY to get a copied version. It's a question of morals.
