Is knowledge of c and c++ required to become perfect in core java . What all topics in c++ should I study before studing java.

Unless you have other reasons to study C++, I wouldn't do it at all if all you're striving for is take the SCJP exam. While a broader knowledge base is generally good, C++ has some differences from Java that make it less than ideal a candidate to start with if you're really aiming for Java.

I really hate C++ for no apparent reason but partly because I hate using pointers(pointer phobia) and we do not have to care about them here
