I worked in SAP for 2 1/2 years but as the SAP ship started sinking in '99 I shifted to Java and since then I'm working as a java programmer. Now for past 8-10 months SAP has started picking up and there are fever opportunities for java(Or probably lot more people has joined the Java wagon). I sometimes feels like going back to SAP. What do you guys suggest, regarding prospects in both the fields.
Thanks

i do java and one thing i know for sure is that
Sap Labs is on a recruting spree in B'lore :-) when most of the companies are lying low.
So u s'd be correct.
That apart i hope you w'd be able to leverage ur java skills as well?
If that's the case then it sounds fine to me.
There are hardly any web related projects coming up off late.

Dear Friend
Since you have 2.5 years experience in SAP it is best to foucs on it rather than java for which you have just few months expeience and moreover since the Java Job market is very bad for entry level programmers it is best that you foucs your attention in improving your job prospects in SAP area itself .In the current IT Scenario you will have to have superfical knowledge of all the Technologies but very strong knowledge in One Technology area .So try to be an expert in the SAP area .You can side by side keep in touch with Java also but build your core competence in SAP area .
Wishing you all the best .

Krishna, I never said that I have few months of experience in Java I have now 2 years of server side java experience. But even with this exp. I'm finding it difficult to find a new project everytime I come out of a project. Two times in last 8 months my projects got scrapped. And Raghav I'm not crying here, just discussing, trying to get some valuable inputs. It's not always bad to jump off a sinking ship. It just luck that you jumped on to another sinking ship.

Oh!! really Raghav!! do you know there was an ERP called Baan.
It was hot 3 years back and during the after the bad time was over for the ERP's, SAP and PeopleSoft could come up again but Baan got washed away. This could have happened with SAP too.
