I am planning on taking the Java 5 Programmers certification exam soon. I am wonderng, if I am ready. There is a sample test simulator that comes with the book "Sun Certified Programmer for Java 5" by Sierra and Bates. I am getting about 85% of the questions there right.

I also subscribed to the website: http://www.examulator.com/phezam/selectsubject.php. This website also has practice questions. Again, I am running around 85%. However, I recently took the practice exam by John Meyers on the website: http://enigma.vm.bytemark.co.uk/webstart.html. I got only around 40% right.

I am thinking that I am getting 85% on the other two websites because I have seen the questions before. Do you think I am ready for the real exam?

40% on an entire mock exam seems to low, irrespective of your other results. I would go over that mock thoroughly, at the least.

Hi Bob

40% seems a little low on that exam. It sure does have some tricky questions, but you might want to compare the experience of others who have taken this exam. Here is a link

Good luck with your preparation

I scored 72 percent on the mock exam from the book last weekend and scored 87% on the real test yesterday. I felt that the test from the book was much harder, because it helps a lot when in a real exam you know the number of correct answers.
