Telephony

Hi there,
Am beginning to work on a new telephony project. I know JAVA has a direction using JTAPI, have read the documentation and specification on these but am a bit confused. Would appreciate it if any one would brief me on how JTAPI architecture would look like if i what i want to do is :
- listen to events on a PBX (primarily for out going calls)
- get the number dialed
- listen to the end of call
- bill the call
the last step will be based on what and how I suck out information from the PBX for the call details.
