3D install problem

Hello,
I have been using Java 3D with SDK1.3 no problem, and i installed it without problems using the autoinstall wizard (DirectX version on Win 2000).
Now I have SDK1.4 installed and Java3D is failing to work properly. I can compile 3D api code, but cannot run it - I get error alert saying "Java 3D: Fail to create
back buffer, DDERR_INALIDPARAMS". I also cannot uninstall 3D because it just displays an alery box saying "could not uninstall due to an error". V. helpful.
Has anyone had similar probs? Does anyone know what these error messages mean or how i can uninstall 3D.
