a question on printing api

hey folks,
i have a pretty stupid question, but still...i need an answer!

i need to send to a printer a job which includes a simple text (actually i wanna build a String
representation of an object and print it on paper).
i understood from the api a need to somehow overwrite the print() method...
here comes the question: how do i send a text (i've found a lot of graphics 2d examples but no simple text..) and if there any way to send an object to the printer (may be its toString method will be printed ?)
