This week's book giveaways are in the Refactoring and Agile forums. We're giving away four copies each of Re-engineering Legacy Software and Docker in Action and have the authors on-line! See this thread and this one for details.
Recently I began playing around with some audio stuff, mostly just for fun. I found the Java Media Framework, and found that it looked pretty stale in terms of maintenance. The latest book on it is nearing four years old, and the docs are copyright 1999 as well. Is the javax.sound.sampled.* package intended to replace the JMF? (This would seemingly involve a sacrifice of some functionality, but it may not be important functionality for many.) Is anybody doing anything with real-time digital audio in Java these days? Tim
