JNI with UDP !!!!

Hi all,
I am very new to JNI, so pls pardon my ignorance.
My application is supposed to read and transfer data from C program.
I am planning to use JNI for this. But one of the restriction i have
is that the communication should be using UDP/IP protocol. Does calling C prog using JNI cater to that ?
If not what isthe better approach.
The data to be read from C is big and data structure will have strings, int and images.
Pls help me.....
Thanks in advance
