I have a java application that is used for search.Index of the files which has to be searched is ready .A shell script is written that runs a process written in C++ that find the given text from the indexes and return file names.I am calling this process in a loop from java application using Runtime and Process class in a loop for each request.I feel this is not a feasible solution.
what should i do?

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
