I thought I should share this interesting opinion on certifications with the community. I've heard it from an experience pro (over 25 years in IT). He stated that certifications will be your defense mechanism, especially if you want to advance in your IT career. There will be plenty of experienced people applying for good positions, and some of them (people) will have certificates. So if you don't - you have no chance.
