Got a job offer in Mumbai, India:should I go for it?

Hi Javaranchers,
I got a job offer today, and I have to tell them my decision tomorrorw. I need some advice from all of you whether I should go for it.
The job is for Java Development(server-side), the position is of a Trainee. The reason why I am having second thoughts, and need your advice, is that the salary is VERY less : INR 6000 (Indian Rupees) per month. That is around 120 USD.
If I accept the job, I shall be on a probation period of 6 months as a Trainee, after which depending on my performance, the salary will be increased. The positive side is that it is a permanent position, not on a contract basis.
So dear Javaranchers, please give me your valuable words of wisdom, so that I can make an informed decision.

There are a couple questions which you should ask yourself:
1) is that salary a good salary in India, so that you may live comfortably?
2) are you presently working?

No, actually around Rs. 1500 would be spent in commuting, and lunch. A salary of around Rs. 15000+ can be considered to be okay, i.e one can live reasonbly well, not comfortably.

2) are you presently working?

No. I am a Computer Engg. graduate, and currently attending a Advanced Post Graduate Diploma in Software Technology. I do not have any commercial project experience, only the project which I have done as part of the course i.e dummy projects.

Mika, I am currently based in Mumbai, and getting to the workplace is around 30 min bus journey.

You will be paid to get commercial experiences, that is great! Go for it.
I worked for almost nothing to get commercial experiences in 1992. My daughter quited her ~$11/hour waitress job, accepted an $7.50/hour junior C++ programmer summer job when she finished her freshman year in college. The results: I got 3 offers in a week when market picked up. My daughter has been leading a software department when she just graduated from UTD. and she only graduated for ~1.5 years now.
In this tough market, if I were you, I would do anything to get the valuable commercial experiences, even I've to pay to get it. It will be paid off...

Well, Sorry if this sounds negative, and I totally agree that commercial experience is very important. But, on the otherside, I dont think it will be easy to survive with 6000 Rupees in Bombay.
But may be you will get a hike in salary soon, or if you are smart enough, it should not take you long to find a job which pays well.

Just go and join. Dont think abt salary. As far as what i know even IIT graduates are struggling to get a job at this point of time.
Note: I did my first job(1998) as java tutor for 150Rs(approx 3$) per 4 hours in satyam, Hyderabad India.
