Hi Gurus
I am Sun Certified Programmer and IBM Certified Specialist (Websphere Application Server) located in Toronto, Canada and currently lloking for a job. I have Bachelor's degree from my backhome in Electronics Engg.. I worked for a PC Store and I have experience in Oracle. I have little experience in Java and J2EE. I didn't worked for any IT company here in Canada.
Can you please guide me how to get a break here.
Or is it advisable to join the University ?
Thanks in advance.

The reality is that nothing is a guarentee. I know people who have great jobs with a high school diploma. I know other people with Master's degrees who are looking. It really boils down to who you know.

Right now, the job market is very bad, and it is difficult to find a position no matter what your qualifications. It sounds like your qualifications are reasonable to get into the field in a better market, but it doesn't hurt to enhance them. You will probably get more career enhancement and professional development for your effort through further certifications than further degrees, but htat question has been debated.

Toughest of times for job-hunting, no doubt. Further certification and/or education can never hurt. I sometimes think that educating in a different field of study might offer advantages ... no easy answers. It often amazes me that some who hold onto programming positions know more about how the company works than about how the technology works.
Determination, stamina, and more dedication seem to be the only prescriptions that work. Then, look for a 4-leaf clover!
