Best ftp client library.

Hi,

I am facing a aituation, wherein I will need to down load gbs (12 bg tp be more precise) of data from an ftp server. I am trying to find out the best possible ftp client library I can use for this purpose. Minimally it should have the following qualities,


- It should be free :-)
- Multi threaded support, acceleration for quick download.
- Ability to check time stamps on the server side.
- Well tested and reliable.

With so many libraries out there it is not possible to come up with a complete analysis. Your experience can be a good guideline for me.
