The candidate must possess skills in UNIX or Linux, C/C++/Java and event based programming. Proficiency in UNIX administration and NT is a plus. The successful candidate will be a strong team player who can persevere in the ever-changing dynamics of the financial industry and who can thrive in a Socratic mentoring environment. The candidate must be highly responsive to time critical issues, self-motivated, and an excellent communicator.

Socratic mentoring? Does this imply that all guidance will be handed down in Greek? Or does it simply mean that workers promoting new ideas which are viewed as outside the status quo will be offered a cup of hemlock?

Ah, it's one of those liberal education things where you still discuss Aristotle in a physics class...
