Is anyone employed doing J2ME stuff? If so, how did you get the position? Is general Java experience good enough, or do companies look for coders who've worked with Palm Pilots or other mobile devices? It's a totally fascinating technology - any advice on what I can do to show I'm up to the task of using it professionally? Thanks, g.

I was a J2ME architect. These days they want people with experience, but haven't yet realized that those people are few and far between. (Personally, I don't see any significant difference between J2ME and J2SE.) I would recommend doing some open source projects with J2ME and/or creating some of your own demos. I recently got an email from a company in Bangalor looking for Java developers. Of course, I suspect they can't afford US salaries. --Mark
