Is there anybody who is SCJP, SCWCD, SCJD, SCEA ? I guess there are < 5% of java people get all four ? If you are, could you share with us how long it took you to accomplish all these four titles ?

I haven't seen anybody here at JavaRanch with a signature claiming all 4. I think 3 is the most I've seen, although some people have other kinds of certs too (e.g. 2-3 of the Sun certs plus some IBM or MS certs). And I bet it is much below 5%. I suspect that only 5-10% of all Java programmers even try to get certification. For all 4 you could be looking at a small fraction of 1%. Just my opinion though; the real situation could differ. Hello Ian, I have all four, SCJP, SCJD, SCWCD, SCEA. It took me about 18 months to get all four. I have been doing lots of other work during this time as well. If I'm honest I never intended to do anything other than the SCJP but once I'd passed that I tried the developer cert and it went from there. I personally found the SCJP test the hardest. With the Developer you have as much time as you need, by the time I did the web developer I was used to Sun's format for the exams and didn't find this as hard. The SCEA was quite hard but I'd done a fair bit of Java by this point. So I think once you get past the Programmer you are well on your way to getting all four. Good luck Ian

SCEA is the old architect exam. It didn't have a project element, just a mutiguess paper. Simon

I have CJP 2, CJD 2, SCEA and SCWCD in addition to SCJP 1.1 for which I have 3 certificates where Sun kept screwing up the spelling! All in all, I did this over a couple of years I think. Simon
