There are some Java jobs defense related, but they require security clearance. I guess those jobs can not be shipped oversea. Does anyone know the process to get the clearance? Do we need a sponsor?

The people I know who have security clearance got it while they were working for an employer who required it.

My knowledge and experience is that of Marily. However, since the FBI usually handles this, you might want to try calling them and seeing if there is some process you can go through on your own. --Mark
Jim: - The defense contrator jobs - such as at Lockheed Marin, Raytheon, TRW - all require a security clearance. Also, they are NOT ALLOWED to use H1B visa folks on these projects. In fact - cannot even interview them. - The company gets you the security clearance. And when you go for your on-site interview - you will be directed to an HR person who handles this and only this process. The forms you submit for clearance are separate from those you submit for employment. The employer cannot base decisions for hiring based on the questions you answer for the security clearance. Some security clearance questions: - How many times been divorced - give reasons. - Ever declare bankruptcy - give reasons. - Ever have DUI? - Ever have traffic accident - was it your fault? - Dates on resume - MUST BE EXACT!!! They WILL check up on these. You can state that you don't know exact dates - which is ok - they will find out. However - if you lie on clearance form and they find out - it's major doo doo for you. ----------- - I have gone through the process several times with these folks when interviewing at Lockheed-Martin, Honeywell, Raytheon and others. Again, the company takes care of the $$ fees involved and the usual paperwork. - I get alot of questions about my trucking backgroud since I used to own my own company. Also alot about my big truck wreck back in 1986 when I totalled a semi. Mostly financial related. Like how I paid for semi. What about hospital bills? How did I pay for college after truck wreck?
