Secure FTP issue. Need help.

I'm looking to send files through FTP to a remote server.
Do we have API in java that would facilitate this?
Also better if there is a more secure way to do this, say SFTP etc..
Please suggest if there are core Java API's or open source implementations in Java to make this possible.

For regular (non-secure) FTP I use the Jakarta Commons/Net package.
