Hi, I've recently completed my CS degree with fine result, from Sydney. The job market looks dreadful, and I am now jobless for a month! And feeling lost. Should I go for masters? If so, MBA? MCom? MSCS which one? I'm thinking of doing Masters of Commerce in Accounting and Finance, since it will give me a good ground on at least becoming a professional accountant, tax agent (alternative career?). Whereas, MBA is a management degree - without focus on any discipline. On the other hand, doing MSCS is just retaking similar courses I've already done before (grrm those compiler/OS/concurrency courses!). But, I'll do the MSCS if it can guarantee a proper job. There seems very little opportunity for in experienced graduates! Several months ago, I had offers from Accenture/IBM, but both withdrew their offers cause they can't afford!! and compensated me $2000. Damn! I should've never done CS (which is dead floks) rather business degrees opens more doors.

I think you are putting too much emphasis on "which career path is hot right now". By the time you finish, the career market may be totally different from now. You should be focusing on what interests you, and what education will best meet your career goals, not what's hot now. Look at the people currently in our field feeling frustrated because they went into CS because it was hot previously. Choose a career path that you are willing to stick it out in the good times and the bad! Jamie
