Can java IO Streams read PDF files???

No. You will have to call acrobat reader from the console and pass your file into it.

Actually yes, Java IO can read a PDF (after all it's simply a byte[]). If you want to display it, then arvind s provides the best answer. If you want to manipulate the Objects or even add to it, take a look at iText or etymon for help and guidance.
