Wireless development

I was just wondering what people thought of Wireless development for the phone, pda, and etc. I am going to be taking some classes for J2ME and it seems to be a good market right now. Is this a FAD or the way to go?

Judging by the popularity of mobile phones in Europe where the number of phones is reaching saturation level, its potentially a big market as people upgrade their aging mobile phones to newer models that are java enabled.
There are already a number of companies concentrating on producing content for such phones, the most popular being games. One such company that springs to mind is (*).

When I entered the J2ME market 2 years ago, I felt that the enterprise market was just starting, and the consumer market was 18-24 months away. Of course, given the market depression, I think both markets are a little further off. So don't expect anything big in the next 12 months, but it's a good time to gain experience for when it does pick up.
