difference between byte & character streams

what is the difference between byte and character streams . what exactly i want to know is what additional things i can do with character streams which i cannot with byte streams.

Hi Sushant,
Well for starters a character is 16 bits and a byte is 8 bits. That means you get 2 for 1 or can have twice as much fun!
