It depends what an account manager is. Different companies use the term for different positions. --Mark

I think he is an account manager for a paricular project for a client.

Well yes, but what is it exactly? In large consulting firms, an account manager is the lead contact to the customer and overall in charge of the project, but with other people in charge of particular aspects like development, deployment, business development, etc. In smaller firms, this person may be the one and only project manager. In other firms this person may be a sales guy who is the primary contact, but passes off the technical leadership to someone else. --Mark
