I was told by a friend who recently returned from India that in India and Pakistan you can buy a complete pool of real questions with answers [any certification sun,MS,oracle, cisco] for 70$ US per cert.
This is the prime reason employers don't bother about certs anymore.
whats the point in spending so much money to get these certs?

You are told some wrong information about having certifications in Pakistan. we have to take the exam online as taken in other countries and before taking exam we have to prove our identity to prometric testing center. If u still have any doubt you must confirm it through some reliable sources.

Yes Bill,
I think before posting such a RELIABLE INFORMATION you should have looked into the credibility of you source. What your post will do is destroy the credibility of people from India/Pakistan who have worked day/nights to achieve these highly valued certs.
I can assure you that this is very false information. In Islamabad-Pakistan you need to give at least two identifications from:
1) N.I.C (National Identity Card)
2) Driving License
3) Passport
Hope you will take care before posting such kind of news in future (at least in this forum). You may freely post it in some Gup-Shup Corner
Take Care
Have a Nice Day

I don't know why you keep rubbing this point[id].I just wrote that i was told that the real questions with answers were available. Its got nothing to do with taking the exam in the testing centre.
I am not trying to degrade anybody, its just that i feel cheated!!

Bill ,You are making some serious offense on 2 countries which have produced some of the world's better programmers.I hope u have concrete proof of ur claims in case Prometric reads this & decides to take u to the washer.
And how do we know that such practices are not going on in YOUR country?

It would be better if thread is closed. Certainly not worth discussing.

well I know for sure the real Microsoft certification exam questions are definitely available and flowing all over the internet ,
also cisco etc..
but I dont think u can find real Sun's cert exam question even if u want to buy them because the Sun exams are less common than other vendors

Unfortunately the world is full of folks who Cheat and steal.
It is unfortunate for the honest folks in the world, but the best that we can do is to keep the cheaters impact to a minimum.
I would certainly hope that no one at JavaRanch would even THINK about participating in something this dirty .
However, someone who buys the questions and passes the exam, will NOT have enough knowledge to do well in to workplace. So in the end they are not really helping themselves that much.
And I think that any reasons that employers have for not bothering with Certs anymore relates more to them discovering that passing a Cert is NOT the same as being a good programmer.

That's expensive! Why just India and Pak, you can find them on your very own comp. Go to Google and search for "braindump" - this is the keyword for cert exam questions. You are going to end up with 100s of questions with no guarantee of authenticity. Even if a braindump is "authentic" and consists of all the questions that appear in an exam, do you realize the enormity of mugging up 100s and 1000s of answers that in the Sylvan's question bank for a particular exam. Any day easier to study and giving the exam than banking on them. I am sure many who banked on these braindumps have realized that as well.

PS: Life is not so easy and believe me it is more difficult for people in the other side of the world.

Hi,
I agree with Sara. Yes you can find braindumps,
but to go thru all those braindumps (which you aren't even sure that they will come in real exam)
is a much more difficult exercise.
Secondly, as regards to SUN Exams, other than SCJP, their is no other exam for which you can get help from brain dump. The most valued certification in SUN Exams is SCEA, and believe you me even if you pass Part-I (somehow) , you won't get thru Part-2 and 3 Unless you really know what this stuff is all about.
Also I agree that cheaters (BlackSheeps) exist everywhere in the world, but to label these two countries (India&Pakistan) as the hub of it is a bit bad I would say.
Secondly, About ur comment that you feel cheated, well its your point of view. What most people that I have seen in Pakistan/India feel is that Certification is basically a target. During your path to acheive that target, you learn lots of new interesting things. That and the personal satisfaction and confidence that you get is much more important than the peice of paper you get after the certification.
Hope this helps.

I couldn't imagine that memorizing the answers to 10,000 questions would be very easy. You might as well memorize the material for the test. That seems like it would be much easier.

----Not braindumps!!!-------
"you can buy a complete pool of real questions with answers [any certification sun,MS,oracle, cisco] for 70$ US per cert."
There are only 200/300 questions in every pool.Atleast that is what i have been told.

Even if this is true, still, it does not prove that it is easy to pass exam.
10 years ago I took "General Radiotelephone operator License" exam given by FCC ( Federal Communication Commission ). You need to have this exam in order to be licensed to work on aircraft electronics. FCC published all the actual questions and answers pool for the exam. I think the number of questions in the pool excided 1000 or so. If I am not mistaken the number of the questions in the exam was something around 50 or so. The point, you can not possibly guess all the right answers. If somebody goes into memorizing all the questions, and answers, oh well, he has the necessary knowledge to pass exam.

And what I've been told, the pool for SCJP questions is around 25,670 or 25,720.
The difficulty Bill is you seem to believe what you've been told on this. Counter-check to see if its worth pouring some emotions into. Specially things very specific that could touch on sensitivities of countries. Nuclear-armed at that.

Ehh, by the way, between the 2 of us, did you by any chance buy... I mean ... only 70$ US per cent... and did you pass with it.... You know I'm just wondering why you felt cheated...and sad... heeh heeh heh... Hey easy! Don't read too much on this. I'm just kidding.
