This is just out of curiosity. I find lots of guys/girls of Indian origin finding it difficult to secure a job in the US. I mean it's the job scene in the US that prompts me to ask this question. I do understand that some of them w'd have to repay college loans etc and hence can't return without taking care of the loans first. I'm kind of curious to know as to what prevents them from coming back to India where there are more opportunities right now.
I mean the other day i was shocked to find a 5 year exp java professional desperately hunting for a job. This simply does not happen out here.
I do understand that the life style is better over there, people make more money on account of a dollar exchange rate being higher but Bangalore is'nt too bad either. Have been to San Jose and Austin once. Can't think of any multinational company that has not set up a shop here. Not sure if there is any other city in the world other than the bay area that can boast of so many software companies located at the same place. Never been to other countries though! so excuse me if i got that wrong.

Will you give the opportunity to go when you earn 5-10 times than that in India?

well,
more comprehensive responses could come from a person who has lived in USA for a while (3-4 yrs of professional exp) and also in India's IT cities (bangalore etc). the reason being apart from $$ rates there could be many factors,
1. personal views about life style
2. personal experiences in both the countries from the government/society ...
3. personal goals/constraints
4. views about the term "growth" and facilities in both the countries...
and many other that i might be missing here being just a kid comparatively...
regards
maulin

Hi Krithika
Infact a you raised a good question that cannot be answered easily.
I have been in USA for the last 4 years(working as a consultant) and prior to that worked in India for about 3 years(In all cities including B'lore).
Intially money is the driving force for any one who plans to work in USA. With the passing of years definitely the comforts, the life style and easy availability of various resources make the people to stick back to USA.
I am sure that the saving potential is more in USA than in India.Ofcourse u may feel the absence of native culture, but to my surprise younger generation in Indian cities are more westernized than the people who live here. They are more crazy about western foods than us here.
The lack of infrastructure, redtapism and the bureaucratic corruption etc make some people, afraid to come back to India. For example to start a new company it's easy in USA in terms of getting finance, approval etc than in India where u need to pay lot of money to move the things.Even for getting a driving license in India, one need to pay money (if is in urgency).Think of joining a kid in school. U need to pay in lakhs for admissions in India. But in USA education is free upto 12th standard(in govt schools).
Don't come to the conclusion that I am criticizing Indian people. Infact I decided to come back after 5 years as I feel more comfortable in Indai than anyother place in the world. But there needs to be a lot of improvement in our entire system to lure back all the people here.
I am leaving here to make my answer little ambiguous (will come back more on this) and allow other people to share their views on this lovely topic.

Oh no, never!, but then on second thoughts, s'd'nt there be a secured job / life in the first place? that's exactly my question. Infact i have already indicated that it's the pathetic job scene in the US, if true, that makes me ask this question. I see people (with decent experience) posting that they have'nt had jobs for like 6 months!. Now,if that is a lie then my question does'nt make sense at all.
The fact that Indians are forced to stay back in a foreign land (and from the various posts / petitions it's even clear they want us to leave! :-)) despite not having a job is something really disturbing and discouraging for our country, that too when ample opportunities are available here.
Is our place so bad / if any of you guys who are back in Bangalore, is this city that bad?
The temperature has been hovering around the 22/23c mark for a few months now. guess it's pretty cool actually :-), anyways, just kidding!
Is the constant insecurity of losing a job + locals wanting us to leave, really worth it? May be yes. But then I just wanted to understand their perspetive.

I don't want to get into troubles, just curious, i had an impression that girls are living better in US than in India. No matter how many opportunities for professional growth are opening in India right now these are mostly for boys, no???

Still money matters .I will give now real example. My friends with similar experience of mine work in US.One in Bay area earns $85K while one 65K near Washington DC.There are living there for the last 3 years. One has purchased 1BHK in Mumbai. For the similar apartment, I will require atleast 10 years to purchase!! with current salary.

Its not a question of good or bad.People anywhere try to move a place which offers better material quality and money.

It depends on person's age and how he thinks. To many H1-Bs out in US,coming back to India now a days means not going again back to US(People go on L1 visa and not H1B).Employers fully exploit L1/B1s guys (sometimes giving them 30/40 $ a day)for short trips. This makes less attractive to many.If you are on H1B/Green card and have kid(s)and you come back to India ,going back again is extremely difficult.Any employer will choose young one without family than having with family. So in short constant insecurity+local wrath is worth than coming back to India.

Local wrath?! Are you experiencing local wrath?? I see people mobilizing to try and balance the rate of available jobs to locals vs. foreigners. Isn't there a big jump from that to 'wrath"?

Hi,
I think main reason people stay back in US in face of adversities is that thay have faith in overall systems there and sure that economy will turn around with some rational decisions by govt etc. They have hope that bad times will pass away.
Same can not be said about India. One can not trust government here. Emotional issues get preference rather than rational decisions. One is not sure how long good days will last.
What I personally liked about US is the descipline and cleanliness which is (sad but true)nowhere to be found in India.
